(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – UCM senior first baseman John Oropeza was named an honorable mention All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Wednesday.
Fellow senior, catcher Chase Graskewicz, was named to the All-Central Region second team.
Oropeza was a first team NCBWA All-Region and second team All-MIAA pick this season after batting .344 with 20 doubles, five home runs and 52 RBI. He was second on the team with 64 hits. His 20 doubles were the 11th most in a single season in UCM history and his 48 career doubles rank ninth best in school history.
Graskewicz was named to the NCBWA’s All-Region second team after earning first team All-MIAA honors. He hit .293 with five doubles, four home runs and 21 RBI in 29 games played. He had eight multi-hit games in 2013 and five multi-RBI games.
