(PITTSBURG, Kan.) – The defending National Champions Central Missouri Jennies track and field team sent a handful of pole vaulters to the Pittsburg State Crimson and Gold Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Brittany Kallenberger, individual national champion in the event during the outdoor season, took second, jumping 12-3.5.
Kaylee VanBlarcum finished in seventh-place with a season-opening jump of 11-7.75. Freshman Emma Elwood etched her name into the UCM top-10 in her first meet, jumping 11-3.75, tied for the sixth-highest indoor pole vault mark in team history and placed eighth overall.
Both the Mules and Jennies will be sending athletes to compete at the Doane College Happy Holiday Multi meet for pentathletes and heptathletes in Crete, Neb., Dec. 11-12. The first full team meet will be at the Multipurpose Building in Warrensburg for the UCM Invitational on Jan. 22.
