Robert Meeker Vinck

Robert Meeker Vinck, 70, of Holden, Missouri, formerly of Independence, Missouri, died Thursday, Aug. 10, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Graveside Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri, with Military Honors provided by Holden Veterans of Foreign Wars, Memorial Post 5844; Munday-Hancock Post 90, American Legion and United States Navy Honors Team.

Robert was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Passaic, New Jersey, the son of Joseph E. and Margaret Meeker Vinck. He graduated from high school in Metuchen, New Jersey, and subsequently earned a BS in Medicine. Robert was united in marriage to Theresa E. “Terri” Ogborne on Nov. 1, 1969, in Metuchen, to whom he remained married for 47 years. He served in the United States Navy from Nov. 1, 1964, to May 31, 1991, as a flight medic and chief corpsman. He was also a specialist in nuclear medicine, having served throughout the United States as well as parts of Europe and Japan.

Following his military service, he continued in the medical field in both emergency and industrial medicine. Robert worked at AGCO in Independence and later, with a couple of area ambulance services, as both a paramedic and a trainer. He enjoyed assembling models, computers, and astronomy. He was also an avid fan of science fiction, particularly Star Trek. In more recent years, Robert developed a passion for cooking.

Survivors include his wife, Terri; three children, Kristin E. Vinck and wife, Jennifer, of Pittsburg, Missouri; Meaghan C. Vinck and fiancé, Hoesel, of Holden; and Adam J. Vinck and wife, Leighanne, of Belton, Missouri; sister, JoAnn Sheffer and husband, Jay, of Bradenton, Florida; and two grandchildren, Aidan Seek and Elena Vinck. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Jennifer Ellen Vinck.
