Five members of the Warrensburg Tigers wrestling team qualified to compete in the state tournament following the district tournament Saturday.
Collin Braun advanced to state with a record of 44-1 this season.
“We worked very hard for this opportunity,” Braun said. “And we are going to try to do big things.”
JD Culp returns to the state competition with a record of 38-4 and after getting third last year.
“I want to win with style and class,” Culp said. “No showing off, I just want to be the one to get my hand raised.”
Ben Richner has been preparing for this moment for three years and has a season record of 28-12.
“I have been going to every practice I can get to since freshman year,” Richner said. “This is a great achievement and now that I am here it is really satisfying.”
Taylor Brown advanced to state with a record of 34-4, being the only freshman to make it from the Warrensburg team.
“I’m a little nervous,” Brown said. “But mostly just excited for my hard work to pay off.”
The final member, Cole Hunter, moved on to state with a record of 19-17.
“I feel good making it to state this year since I am only a sophomore and wasn’t expected to make it this far,” Hunter said.
