Wilma Delores Dixon

Wilma Delores Dixon, 66, of Warrensburg, died Wednesday evening, June 27, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service was held Saturday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Blansit officiating.

Wilma Delores (Maxfield) Dixon was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, on April 22, 1952, to the late Gene Maxfield and the late Juanita Nelson. She was the third of four girls.

Delores graduated from Eisenhower High School in Lawton, Oklahoma. Before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Bearl Dixon, June 4, 1971, who survives her in their home and has been the love of her life for the past 47 years. Together with their four children, they traveled through the US and Europe while serving in the United States Air Force.

Surviving immediate family includes her daughter Shanna (Matt) Summitt of Warrensburg, Son Shawn Dixon of Higginsville Missouri. Son Shane (Karrissa) Dixon of Cache, Oklahoma. Son Seth (Ruth) Dixon of Independence, Missouri; and all her grandchildren that were a huge part of her life, the apple of her eye, which includes Noah; Hannah and Maci Summitt; Alexis and Hayley Dixon; Malachi Dixon and Ezra Dixon.

She had a contagious laugh and smile. Once you got her going it was hard to get her to stop, in most cases you were better off just joining in. She loved God with all her heart and loved to sing and praise the Lord.

She was a member of New Life Assembly of God in Oak Grove, Missouri, for the past 18 years. Though she lived in Warrensburg the past 28 years, she was a country girl at heart. You could take the girl out of Oklahoma but can’t take Oklahoma out of the girl.

Other surviving family includes sisters Gloria Porter, Gail (Jerry) Dixon, Vicky Drzewucki all of Lawton, Oklahoma.

Preceding her in death includes her father Gene Maxfield of Apache Oklahoma, Her mother Juanita Nelson and stepfather Lloyd Nelson, in-laws Bearl and Millie Dixon all of Lawton.

Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and checks may be left in care of the funeral home.
