WMMC recognized as high-performing hospital

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Western Missouri Medical Center was one of 10 Missouri hospitals recognized by the Missouri Hospital Engagement Network as a High-Performing Hospital.

High performance areas, with more than a 40 percent reduction, included reduced falls with injury, birth trauma, readmissions, and post-op pulmonary embolism/deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in lungs or legs), according to a news release. The Medical Center prevented two falls with injury and nine venous thromboembolisms. In addition, WMMC has a zero percent rate of central line associated blood stream infections and catheter-associated urinary tract infections.

“We’re committed to our partnership with HEN to provide new resources and support to make health care safer and less costly by targeting and reducing preventable injuries and complications from hospital-acquired conditions,” said Susan M. Stiles, president and chief executive officer, in a news release. “Our WMMC team has been working diligently to indentify process improvement opportunities – just another step we’re taking to ensure the safest possible environment for our patients.”
